Yongsan-gu has been the most upscale residential district of Seoul until the late 80s when it was overtaken by Gangnam-gu and Seocho-gu. It is home to the Yongsan US army base and the Itaewon shopping/nightlife neighbourhood where many clothes can be obtained for much cheaper than elsewhere in Seoul. The downside is that the shops look a bit crappy and the crowd is not always too appealing. There are also many museums worth visiting in Yongsan, including the National Museum (the largest in Asia) and the War Museum.
