Seoul Subway:

The Seoul subway is one of the most heavily used in the world with over 8 million trips daily. Most of the suburban areas of Seoul (i.e. Gyeonggi-do, Incheon, and Chungnam province) are reachable through the subway network shown in the map below. In addition, there are some suburban trains not shown on this map.

Being government-subsidized, riding the Seoul subway is relatively not expensive: the minimum cost for a short trip is 800 wons, and reaches 1500 wons to travel from a suburb to downtown Seoul. However, no monthly passes are available permitting an unlimited number of rides.

Seoul. Population as of 2005: 10.1 million. Area: 606 square kilometers. Urbanized area: 363 square kilometers.
